Deacon Mace Mazzoni's Homily for The First Sunday of Advent - December 01, 2024

St. Frances Cabrini Digital Communications Ministry

Today is the First Sunday of Advent, and the beginning of a brand new Liturgical Year, known as Cycle "C". Once again, the readings direct us to prepare ourselves for Jesus's birth on Christmas Day. As Deacon Mace reminds us, the gospel is very clear, and we are to  "Be vigilant at all times, and pray." Each of us is challenged to let Jesus's presence enter our lives, and become a living symbol of God's presence to each other. Look for ways to prepare your heart for Jesus's birth, whether by spending time with Him in adoration in the St. Joseph chapel, or taking a tag for a gift from the giving tree. By preparing ourselves inwardly for the birthday of our Savior, we will be filled with joy this Christmas day.
