Msgr. Magee's Homily for The 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time - January 26, 2025

As Jesus begins his public ministry, His message is often misunderstood, or outright rejected. In Msgr. Magee's homily, he tells us that Jesus did not meet the expectations of some of the people of his day. They had been waiting for a king who would wield great power. Upon hearing Jesus, some of the people were "filled with rage. How dare this nobody claim to be the one that Isaiah and all of the prophets had been talking about". What the people did not realize is that their expectations were too low. Jesus had so much more in store for them, and by extension, us, as long as we are open to his plan for us. Jesus comes to release them from the oppression of sin, and wants us to open our eyes and ears to His message.
