Today is Gaudete Sunday. The third Sunday of Advent is always Gaudete Sunday, and is marked with the lighting of the rose colored candle on the advent wreath, and the priest's rose colored vestments. It's meant to show that joy as we move closer to Christmas, and the celebration of Jesus's birth. In his homily this morning, Msgr. McCormac challenges us to think beyond the worldly preparation, such as buying gifts, decorating, and preparing for Christmas dinner.
